More details follow...
Connecting with Nature, Oak Ridges Moraine art book received the 2009 Moraine Hero Award for demonstrating remarkable efforts in protecting the Oak Ridges Moraine. Several other King artists were involved in this wonderful book that Herbert Pryke designed. Many congratulations to Herbert Pryke and his crew.
"Congratulations on being selected for the Oak Ridges Moraine Book -I loved your work and I chose both the autumn scene (879-this one) and the winter fence (0610) scene ... the works really stood out especially the colour in THE autumn scene ... the use of brushstroke and composition in both with horizon line near top were very engaging. " Christine A. Lynett, Manager, Programs, McMichael Canadian Art Collection
Herbert tells me that close to $20k was raised to assist in protecting the Oak Ridge Moraine. Of course all of those efforts were undone by the stroke of a political pen... shame.
“Weather of Ontario" - The 2009 book, published by Lone Pine is available in stores across Ontario and Canada. You can even find it in Canadian Tire!
"The Passion of Phil the Forecaster" – 120 pages full of my art was published via Blurb in 2012. http://www.blurb.ca/bookstore/detail/3574328
"Tom Thomson Was A Weatherman"
This book is being blogged within "The Art and Science of Phil the Forecaster". The art and science behind a particular Tom Thomson painting is described in each post.
The blog format permits an interactive format that links to the science and history behind the painting. Explanatory graphics and animations can make art and science come alive well beyond the capabilities of a hard-cover book of which only one copy exists. The posts include the details behind where, when and even why Tom Thomson painted what he did more than a century later.
Visit "Tom Thomson Was A Weatherman - Summary As of Now" for ongoing series of posts that will take years to complete.
The Artists of Georgian Bay was published in the summer of 2024 - it was very well received.
Currently I am not sure if there are any more books in the future... There is much to say about global warming and the sixth mass extinction, both caused by human activities. Others have stepped into those frays now, so perhaps I will simply paint and paddle.
Warmest regards and keep your paddle in the water,
Phil Chadwick
